Triathlon Coaching
in Girona

Swim at Banyoles. Ride the roads the professionals moved here for. Run the trails of the Costa Brava. Three disciplines, one base, coached to the last detail.

Why Girona

Very few places give you all three disciplines at this level

Most training destinations are strong in one discipline and a compromise in the other two. Girona isn’t. An open water venue with Olympic history, cycling terrain that made professional triathletes relocate here, and running routes covering every profile you need — none of it more than a short drive apart.

That matters more than it sounds. When the swim, the bike and the run are all within twenty minutes, you train the way your plan is written instead of the way the logistics allow.

Swim - Lake Banyoles

Twenty minutes from the centre of Girona sits one of the most respected open water venues in Europe.

Clean water, a controlled environment and no sea state to negotiate — which means you can execute a swim set instead of surviving one. For most athletes it’s the discipline that improves fastest here, simply because you swim in the conditions you’ll race in.

Bike — the terrain that built the reputation

Quiet roads, a climate that lets you ride twelve months a year, and gradients for every session in the plan. Rocacorba for sustained threshold work, Els Àngels for repeatable efforts, the Costa Brava rollers for race-specific intensity.

For triathlon the useful part is control: long rides that stay steady, and climbs where the effort is honest.

Run — every surface, every phase

Flat coastal paths for tempo and race-pace work. Forest trails and hills when the block calls for strength. Track access when the session needs to be precise.

You can build a full run progression without repeating the same route twice.

What you get

Three ways to work with me here

SUPPORT TO ATHLETES If already have a coach or a team

Some of the athletes I work with here aren’t looking for a new coach. They have one — at a development programme, a federation or a professional team — and what they need is someone on the ground: a set of eyes on the session, a technique check, a course recon, someone at the race when the team can’t be there.

I do that work, and I do it alongside your existing coach rather than around them. Your programme stays yours; I add what can only be added in person. Tell me the situation and we’ll agree exactly where my role starts and ends.

How it works

From first contact to final session

  1. Before you arrive — We talk. I assess where your fitness actually is, not where you think it is, and I build the plan around your race date. It’s ready before you land.
  2. While you’re here — Coached sessions with feedback as it happens, and a structured review each evening. Every session has a purpose you can explain.
  3. After you leave — A full performance analysis and a transition plan, so what you gained here survives the trip home.

I met Uri back in December 2023 through a referral. He is still my coach to the day and I cannot be more grateful to him. My performance skyrocketed, and smashed my PBs several times. Uri gives daily feedback, and is consistently on top of your performance and your needs. Got an issue? An urgent flight? just feeling lazy? He will re-arrange your plan accordingly.
Having said that, what makes Uri special is his contagious love for the sport, and his genuine interest in not only making you a better athlete but also help you to enjoy the process. I am glad I met Uri, and I recommend you to try meeting him as well

Oriol became my triathlon coach 3 years ago. He is always connected, following and pushing, helping me reach my next level. My best Half & Ironman results had arrived with Oriol.

His methods, always using technology based on Training Peaks and Garmin, are really useful in my training.

Uri coached me for over a year for an IM 70.3 and for my first full IM; Uri is very professional, prepared, experienced (as a coach and as a triathlete), responsive, committed and flexible in his approach (without forgetting the long-term goals though). With Uri´s guide I managed to increase significantly my performance, enjoy more the sport and get a better understanding of certain aspects of the Triathlon. Fully recommended for a true customized one-o-one coaching experience and to get to the next level.

Uri has been my coach since earlier this year. After moving from London to Barcelona with our family in 2021, I set out a goal to compete in the long-distance IRONMAN Barcelona. I was looking for an English-speaking coach and compared several coaching options. In the end, Uri’s data-led approach, experience and modern/remote working style (Google Drive, Zoom, Calendly, Trainingpeaks, etc.) made me choose him. And.. what a journey it has been.

After months of training, I was totally surprised to finish 4th in my age group and 15th overall in my first IM event which also meant I qualified for the World Championship in Kona next year. Although my main goal was just to do well, I cannot thank Uri enough for this result and his excellent coaching and support. He’s a great guy as well!
He knows how to motivate you with the right feedback and training load so you know that the toughest training will be still painful but not unachievable as the training zones are regularly updated. I was able to follow the training plans rigorously, which gave me good confidence in my races. The race plans he prepared for the events were always spot-on and based on your data. The local events and group rides he organises around Barcelona are much fun too.

Besides that, I remained injury-free which for me is a big achievement as I always struggled with little aches and injuries in the past when I was following my own marathon training plan.

All in all, he is a highly recommended, passionate and professional coach who maximises your potential using data and modern ways of working. He is fun to work with too. Uri, thank you for everything so far!

I came to Oriol looking to take my long distance triathlon to the next level following a friends recommendation. Through carefully structured workouts and regular feedback I was able to save 90 minutes off my previous best Ironman time.
Over a 9 month plan Oriol’s workouts built suitably to allow me to avoid injury while making clear progressive gains. For example my swim pace has improved by 10 seconds per 100m and my cycling ftp has increased by over 30watts in this time, more importantly these are sustainable gains I can hold over longer course racing.
Oriol provides feedback on every session and takes time to explain the benefit of each of the sessions so you understand the purpose of the session and plan structure and how to get the most out of yourself.
I’m based in the UK but regular Zoom calls meant this was never an issue.
I wouldn’t hesitate to come back to Oriol for help when I plan to do my next Ironman.

Tell me your season goals, your racing background and the training tools you use, and I’ll reply within 48 hours.
