Cycling coaching in Girona
Rocacorba, Els Àngels, the Costa Brava — ridden with a coach who trains on them every week. Power-based sessions, honest numbers, and a plan you can explain.

Why Girona
The professionals didn’t move here for the scenery
They moved here because you can ride twelve months a year, because the roads are quiet enough to hold a wheel and an effort, and because within an hour you have every gradient a training plan asks for. That combination is rare, and it’s why so much of the World Tour peloton spends its winter on these roads.
What the terrain doesn’t do by itself is make you faster. That takes structure, and someone watching the numbers.
THE BEST ROADS
- Rocacorba — Long, steep and consistent. The reference climb for sustained threshold work and for testing where your ceiling actually is.
- Els Àngels — Shorter and repeatable. Where the interval sessions live: VO2 work, over-unders, race-pace repeats you can compare week to week.
- The Costa Brava rollers — Constantly changing gradient. Race-specific intensity, punchy efforts, and the closest thing to what a road race actually does to your legs.
- L'Empordà roads — Flat, quiet and uninterrupted. Where the long steady rides stay genuinely steady.
Numbers you can act on
I coach with power and I analyse it properly. WKO for the physiological profile, Best Bike Split for race modelling, TrainingPeaks for the day to day.
That’s not a list of logos — it means that after a block with me you know your durability, where your fatigue resistance breaks, and what you can realistically hold on your target course.
And because I’m on the road with you, the data has context. A number without knowing how the effort felt is half the information.
What you get
Three ways to work with me
- Single sessions — A morning at the lake, a bike session with real-time feedback, a run test. For athletes passing through, or based nearby.
- A training block — Several days built around one objective: a technique reset, a bike position and pacing block, a race simulation.
- A full camp — A structured multi-day programme written before you arrive, coached every day, with a full performance analysis and a transition plan when you leave.
SUPPORT TO ATHLETES If already have a coach or a team
You have a coach and a structure, and they work. What you often don’t have is someone in Girona — on the climb, at the test, at the race — when the team is somewhere else. That gap is where I do most of my best work.
I work alongside your existing coach, not around them. Your programme stays yours; I add the part that only happens in person: execution, technique, pacing decisions under fatigue, and an honest read on what the numbers meant. Tell me the situation and we’ll define the role precisely.
A local coach, not a visiting one
I’m from here. I hold a Spanish national coaching qualification and ITU Level III certification, I’ve been coaching for over fifteen years, and I work in Spanish, Catalan and English.
I still race myself, which means I know how a session feels before I ask you to do it.

Having said that, what makes Uri special is his contagious love for the sport, and his genuine interest in not only making you a better athlete but also help you to enjoy the process. I am glad I met Uri, and I recommend you to try meeting him as well

His methods, always using technology based on Training Peaks and Garmin, are really useful in my training.

After months of training, I was totally surprised to finish 4th in my age group and 15th overall in my first IM event which also meant I qualified for the World Championship in Kona next year. Although my main goal was just to do well, I cannot thank Uri enough for this result and his excellent coaching and support. He’s a great guy as well!
He knows how to motivate you with the right feedback and training load so you know that the toughest training will be still painful but not unachievable as the training zones are regularly updated. I was able to follow the training plans rigorously, which gave me good confidence in my races. The race plans he prepared for the events were always spot-on and based on your data. The local events and group rides he organises around Barcelona are much fun too.
Besides that, I remained injury-free which for me is a big achievement as I always struggled with little aches and injuries in the past when I was following my own marathon training plan.
All in all, he is a highly recommended, passionate and professional coach who maximises your potential using data and modern ways of working. He is fun to work with too. Uri, thank you for everything so far!

Over a 9 month plan Oriol’s workouts built suitably to allow me to avoid injury while making clear progressive gains. For example my swim pace has improved by 10 seconds per 100m and my cycling ftp has increased by over 30watts in this time, more importantly these are sustainable gains I can hold over longer course racing.
Oriol provides feedback on every session and takes time to explain the benefit of each of the sessions so you understand the purpose of the session and plan structure and how to get the most out of yourself.
I’m based in the UK but regular Zoom calls meant this was never an issue.
I wouldn’t hesitate to come back to Oriol for help when I plan to do my next Ironman.
Tell me your target events, your current numbers and the training tools you use, and I’ll reply within 48 hours.
