Train With Me in 2027

Oriol Gili triathlon coaching: online coaching, Road to Worlds and athlete stories

If you’re looking for triathlon coaching for the 2027 season, this is where it starts. Places are open, and below you’ll find exactly how I work, what each programme includes, and how to get one.

How to set up your triathlon season

Before writing a single training week, three things need to be settled. They haven’t changed in fifteen years of coaching, and they still sort out most of the problems athletes bring me halfway through the year.

  1. Choose races that match your real availability. Not the hours you wish you had — the ones you actually have, week in and week out.
  2. Get the basic tools. A trainer and/or a power meter. Nothing fancy. You just need to be able to measure what you do, because what can’t be measured can’t be adjusted.
  3. Commit to the plan. A reasonable plan followed for months beats a perfect plan abandoned in February.

Triathlon is a demanding sport, and a rewarding one. If you’re looking for a new challenge, I’ll take you through the whole process. With the right preparation you’ll reach your goal — and enjoy getting there.

Why places are limited

Every athlete I take on represents long-term development, so I work with a limited number of places and study each application individually before starting. That process includes a video call — every athlete I coach has been through it. It’s a real investment of time, and it’s how we find out whether we’re a good fit for each other.

In practice, almost every place for the coming season is taken before December ends, after a process of information, interview and signed agreement. New athletes usually start from January.

Nobody is turned away for their level or their goal. First triathlon or third World Championship, six hours a week or fifteen — what changes is the plan, not whether you’re welcome. Write to me. If there’s a place, it’s yours. If there isn’t, I’ll tell you straight and tell you when the next one opens.

Private Coach

I’ve spent years coaching athletes who live anywhere in the world. Distance is no barrier to continuous feedback through TrainingPeaks, and video calls do the rest. Sessions can be delivered in Spanish or English.

Power and performance data analysis used to adjust a triathlon training plan

The programme includes a single feedback and communication service, with the option to add home visits, race-day support or in-person testing days.

  • TrainingPeaks with follow-up five days a week
  • TP Premium account included
  • Video calls
  • Strength training programme
  • Document management
  • Video technique analysis
  • WKO, Best Bike Split, lab reports, fatigue-tracking apps, lactate testing, race simulations and more

Typical goals I work with

  • Getting into triathlon. I’ll walk you through the first steps.
  • A regional calendar. Races that fit around your personal life.
  • National Club League. Athletes in a Division I/II club who need a personal coach for the day-to-day, alongside the club’s group sessions.
  • Elite championships. Meeting the entry criteria for elite racing — choosing the right qualifiers, building a competitive plan, and handling the last-minute club call-ups that turn training and travel plans upside down.

Online Coaching rates

Because every athlete’s situation is different, I can’t publish a fixed monthly rate without looking at each case. Some months are heavier than others, and the fee reflects the time I invest as a coach during a year: general plan design, estimated monthly check-ins, in-person visits and testing.

The rate has nothing to do with your level.

One thing worth knowing: signed agreements hold over time without price increases, as long as there’s no break and restart.

Road to Worlds

Official IRONMAN World Championship qualifier certificate and Kona slot medal

Year after year, TRIMAX athletes qualify for World Championships across different distances, with both private and federation organisers. It’s a shared goal, so I’ve built it out:

  • Group trips to qualifying races. I pick one or two a year to bring people together, with individual guidance for anyone who prefers a different qualifier.
  • A dedicated group for athletes with a confirmed slot, with joint training days where distance allows.
  • Group logistics for each World Championship.
